Futures: A Summer Research Festival – 14/06/2021

In 2021, the SWW DTP put on its first ever summer research festival, organised and run by DTP students to showcase the work of researchers across the consortium. The theme was ‘futures’, and was chosen to reflect a wide range of experiences, concerns and interests across the arts and humanities, as we find ourselves looking ahead after a year of restrictions.  Sabrin was a panelist in a discussion about Future Methods and Research Practices: How can creative practice-based research methodologies help shape different futures in academia and society? SAHLF is an entirely virtual literary festival with the aim of combating loneliness, championing inclusivity and accessibility, and celebrating books! Established by CJ Cooke in partnership with Paper Nations. Sabrin delivered a workshop entitled Writing in More than One Language: How and Why.

Creativity and Crisis Symposium – 09/02/2021

An event hosted by Bath Spa University and co-organised by Sabrin. From the climate emergency through COVID-19 and from the waves of debate inspired by Black Lives Matter through the deep social inequalities revealed by the lockdown, research has been challenged and reframed. Follow the Sun Conference – 28 to 30/01/2021

Follow the Sun: International Conference on Transnational Literature. Sabrin co-organised and facilitated this literary festival-meets-conference. It boasted 16 events and more than 40 speakers, and is organised by The Research Centre for Transcultural Creativity and Education (TRACE), its Transnational Literature open access, peer-reviewed, international journal, and creative writing incubator Paper Nations – all part of Bath Spa University. Borders, Boundaries, and Margins – 05/06/2019

A confrence organised by Exc!amation: An Interdisiplinary Journal, Exeter University. Sabrin delivered paper entitled A Transnational Memoir between Italy and Palestine: A Cultural and Creative Jigsaw. Part II. This was a continuation of a paper delivered at a previous PGR Seminar Series.

Writing to make the world II – 30/05/2019

Sabrin and Dr. Camilla Fuentes, as 3T Creatives, organised a second iteration of the previously successful Writing to make the world workshop. Another whole day of training, with lectures and workshops to boost attendee’s writing. They challenged everyone to find new ways to write or to find new ways to use their writing. Sabrin delivered a paper entitled Communicating Research Transnationally: Propagation versus Misappropriation.

When Practice Becomes Research – 12/02/2019

Sabrin was a co-organiser for this all-day event in Feb 2019 for the Centre of Cultural and Creative Industries, Bath Spa University. CCCI’s successful symposium returned in 2019 to seek answers to the question ‘When does Creative Practice become research?’
